Others have changed it completely. A few had it changed by lazy Immigration officials at Ellis Island who just couldn't be bothered with all those strange sounding, hard to spell, and even harder to pronounce European family names. But many of us have kept our surname just the way we received it, despite years of torment from cruel classmates in the American school system who seemed to get so much glee from hurling perverted mutations of the name at us. Originating in Germany, the RothHaas Family now spans the globe. Although heavily concentrated in the midwestern United States for 150 years, the past 50 years has seen us spread to the East, South and West as well as to Asia. We are now found on at least three continents. Much of the research on our family roots was done by Dr. Glenn RothHaas. Supplemental research was contributed by Richard RothHaas.
